Following a meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Mr. Obama said he plans to open talks around a new “conceptual framework” about how to deliver aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
Perhaps President Obama should aquaint himself with who provides, and what kind of, aid is currently being delivered to Gaza & Co.
No Palestinian is denied medical care in Israel. In 2009 alone, 10,544 patients and their companions left the Gaza Strip for medical treatment in Israel. Moreover, there were 382 emergency evacuations from Gaza for medical purposes. Lebanese public hospitals do not admit Palestinians for medical treatment or surgery.
Israeli-Arab citizens economically better off than the majority of their fellows in virtually every other Arab country.
The Hadassah Medical Organization in Jerusalem donates $3 million in aid annually to treat Palestinians in Israel. Following fears of a swine flu outbreak, three Israeli hospitals were assigned to treat cases in the Gaza Strip and 44,500 immunizations were transferred to the Strip.
Israel maintains a corridor for the transfer of medical patients out of Gaza, and about 200 medical staff members go through the crossings every month. Israel also helps coordinate the transfer of Jordanian doctors into Gaza.
In 2009, some 4,883 tons of medical equipment and medicine were brought in.
In the first quarter of 2010, Israel shipped 152 trucks of medical supplies and equipment into Gaza. In a typical week (in May 2010), some 37 truckloads of hygiene products were shipped to Gaza through the land crossings. In addition, a new CAT scan machine was recently shipped to Gaza.
But don't let the facts get in the way, will you Obama.
There should be a means by which we are able to stop the flow of arms that could endanger Israel’s security, at the same time we’re doing so in a way that allows the people in Gaza to live out their aspirations and their dreams, both for themselves and their children,” he said.
Hmm, you mean their aspirations and dreams of detroying Israel and exterminating the Jews?
"Is the President of the United States crazy, deluded, an idiot, or just a common or garden Jew hater?"
ReplyDeleteYes.
I'm with Matt. Yes.
ReplyDeleteAt best, Obama wants to redistribute Israel's wealth (and ours!) to Gaza. At worse? The destruction of Israel.
It's a ridiculous situation. I'd love to see Israel withhold ALL aid for a week, just to give these idiots a taste of their own bullsh*t.
I was particularly irritated that the President canceled his second meeting with Netanyahu to avoid the "bad press" following the flotilla incident, and yet hustled to meet with the Palestinian president.
ReplyDeleteLove those priorities. Also, love the fact checking.
Remember, he's, like, the smartest president OF ALL TIME!!!!111!!11!
Obama is smart. Common sense is where he's lacking. He has surrounded himself with incompetent wonks and prior administration dregs. The "advice" he gets is worse than poor, it's moronic. Unfortunately, Bush did much the same thing, so it's very hard to draw a line.
ReplyDeleteWe either get a handle on this "appointed" ghost government or we're toast.
He's allowed himself to become the Prince Regent for the worst of institutionalized Washington habituates. they have no loyalty to him, only to their causes and how much use they can make of him as a tool. Congress is no different in this regard, he's their tool.
You're right, Aridog. There is a definite difference between brain smarts and street smarts.
ReplyDeleteSince the beginning with Obama, I've had a hard time categorizing the what and why of his decisions. I think it's more than lacking common sense if he is acting in logical accord with his core values, ideology and world view. It appears to me that what would be common sense to him just the opposite of how I would define it.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe he's some sinister mastermind, but that he is in ideological agreement with those he's appointed/are calling the shots, and the resulting policy is simply overflow of that. I think there's a "we're your betters" perspective, but he's cagey enough to know that his opinions are at odds with most of the rest of us so he has to keep them under wraps - which ends up looking like ineptitude. My guess is that he's enough of an idealist to not care about how it makes him look if he feels like the right party is being snubbed or feted.
Lyana....actually we're in agreement. You can be smart and still be an empty suit. Been nowhere, done nothing, all values conjured or borrowed or both.
ReplyDeleteWithout his self-serving dogmatic acolytes, who in essence define him, you're left with "What Me Worry" with an high IQ. That' ain't good.
When Nancy Pelosi can go to the White House, school Obama and Emanuel, bend Stupak over the couch for political sodomy,...you wonder who is running things?
I don't.
