I Told You So, My Fellow Democrats
Lynne Forester De Rothschild, prominent Democrat activist, AND supporter of John McCain during the last election, on how we should have foreseen the train wreck that is the Obama presidency.
Considering that McCain is a Democrat in an elephant suit, she did not take any real risk by going with him. However, her point is well taken. Anyone who was paying attention at all could have seen what was coming.
I found this article by Clive Crook to be pretty good - I don't spot Obama the "good faith" that Crook does, but I find it instructive to read a critique by someone who is by nature inclined to be sympathetic to him.
This split personality – leftist convictions combined with a consensus-seeking temperament – threatens to cripple the Obama presidency. What should have been clear all along is now impossible to ignore: the US is to the right of Mr Obama on domestic policy. For his own views to prevail, he would need to shift the political centre. If this were even possible, it would require a muscular style of leadership he appears, so far, to have no taste for.
Clive Crook is British and therefore the "Democrat/Republican" label is moot - but he ain't no conservative, that's for sure.
And yet, he calls Obama (in the nicest possible way, of course) a leftist, dithering wuss, out of step with the country he purports to lead.
RadioMattM.....snake oil still sells well. Proof is in the White House, and leading both houses of Congress...e.g.the "label" says nice things, never mind the content.
The desperation, now, to "pass something" is palpable. It's no longer about "Health Care" or the environment, it is solely about the "agenda" which demands "success," even if tainted and unpalatable slap dash.
Like prehistoric hunters they've herded the buffalo to the cliff's edge and will send some of their own over to get even just one buffalo over the drop, not matter if it is sufficient for their needs.
