The Heartbeat of America

While others are busy destroying store windows and wearing hoodies, these kids and teachers truly represent the 99%:

If there's one thing Mountain Home Junior High students learned Thursday, it's that freedom is not free.

The annual "Freedom is Not Free" veterans' program honored area veterans while educating students about the history of Veterans Day and the meaning of the colors and folds of the American flag.

"Our class mottos are 'freedom is not free,' 'remember the fallen,' 'honor those who serve' and 'understand the value of freedom,' " said Bud Zorman, retired U.S. Marine and junior high American history teacher. "I try and instill in all of my students the high level of patriotism I possess and an attitude of gratitude through everything that we do all year long."

The American Legion Honor Guard rendered three volleys in honor of the American fallen, and the program closed with the playing of taps. As students filed out, they shook the hands of the veterans in attendance.

  2. This is a wonderful story. I am just surprised that the ACLU or someone has not filed suit to stop this indoctrination.
