Trying To Undo The One Thing

Here is a blunt, politically incorrect, rough around the edges, and genuinely insightful look at the world of Bronies. What, may you ask, is a "brony"?  A brony is a grown man obsessed with the children's cartoon My Little Pony.

This is a really good article, and I guarantee it's not what you expect.

  1. McInnes does a great job here.

I feel better about watching Japanese Anime aimed at teenagers - Inu Yasha and Bleach.

There the lesson is a little deeper than "Friendship is Magic" - it's about how to deal with enemies and protect friends.

It teaches that your enemies are not evil. Your enemies are people too - even if they are actually monsters or demons.

They have their own stories, their own tragedies and losses which propel them. They made choices, maybe bad ones, but choices which anyone might make in a moment of weakness.

They deserve sympathy, and not judgement.

And so you learn to let go of hatred, of fear, and embrace compassion for your enemies.

And then you kill them. Because they are your enemies. And you need to protect your friends.

  2. I love Gavin McInnes. Truly. He's got a good point about the My Little Pony people. I was ready to taunt them.

Some of his articles are so-so but he can be inspired too; his book was harrowing, hilarious and waaaaaaay too much TMI. But that's Gavin. I think his forte is in comedy, he has made me - literally - laugh out loud time after time on Red Eye.
