Who Will Continue The Fight?

From the good professor:
I only spoke once with Andrew Breitbart. He reached out to me, and we spoke by phone. The topic is not important, but I was shocked that he even knew who I was; but as I’ve come to learn, Andrew seemed to know who everyone was in the conservative blogosphere. He was just that way.
Since my wife called this morning to let me know of Andrew’s death, it has been hard to focus on anything else. In her words, we don’t have that many bright media lights, and to lose him hurts.
Andrew lived in a world without restraints. He could be who he wanted to be, a luxury few bloggers have, particularly those who blog under their own name and work for others.
I live in a world of restraints, and I envied Andrew’s freedom more than you can know.
Andrew is irreplaceable, but we would serve his memory well to aspire to more freedom of thought and more freedom of action.
I’ve often wondered where to go with this blog. I now know.

  1. It is a loss, but conservatism is meant to be bigger than any one person. The professor now knows where to go with his blog. So do many others. That is the legacy of Andrew Breitbart.

  2. Thank you for posting it, lady red. Here is the tribute that Thadeus McCotter gave him today on the house floor.

  3. I sat, finally, late yesterday afternoon, at work and opened Drudge.

I nearly cried in public from this news.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but the first thing that came to mind was Breitbart's speech at CPAC, where he said that he had videos of Obama from his college days.

And now, about two weeks later, he is dead at 43, of 'natural' causes.

  4. DWT, that's EXACTLY my first thought. I showed the headline to Noah and said "they killed him". I guess I'm getting paranoid too.

His own people say he died from natural causes, and that he had health issues. I'll put my faith in that, for now. The other has too many ramifications to contemplate.

Thanks for the tribute link florrie. Even today, I'm feeling stunned and incredibly sad.

  7. Florrie - the 'Breitbart Is Here' logo was created by 'Big Fur Hat' at the I Own The World blog.

I added that to our favorites sidebar.
