Hey, I saw these "cars" every day growing up in England. Even so they still crack me up. Every time I go back to Britain I think to myself, well they must have stopped making those three wheel cars by now. But no, there they are on the road just as weird looking as ever.
They generally motor along at about 20 mph if they tries to go any faster they would end up in the same predicament as Clarkson.
3 wheeled mini-trucks were ubiquitous in Asia in the 60's and early 70's. I assume they still are in rural areas. We used one, plus one guy with an ox-cart, to move our household belongings back in the day, when I last lived at 174 Ship Shong Dong, Bupyong, ROK. They periodically got upside down alongside roadways, too.
Dances, I must have just been mixed up, as usual. There is some green car made in the USofA, heavily subsidized by the gov't, that has recently been recalled with serious safety problems.
I guess it wasn't the Ford Fart but the alliteration just didn't work with GM or Chrysler :-)
I knew someone who was a high ranking official for a state police agency. That agency was working with the Federal Government on a program for dealing with stolen cars. Know that his agency liked acronyms, he came up with a name for the program:
LMAO! What a hysterical video! :)) I too remember, like Fay, seeing those funny looking cars when I was growing up in England. They always looked like such fun to me as a kid and asked my parents why we couldn't have one instead of our boring Vauxhall. Now I know the answer. :p
@Earl - you watched Delboy and Rodney? They showed it in Canada or were you in England? We get BBC Entertainment here and I just love all the old comedies, even if they rerun them time and again. The comedies and dramas are the only good things to come out of the BBC nowadays. And Jeremy Clarkson in his Reliant. :D
LMAO!!! Matt, this video is hysterical! I can't believe it's a REAL car! =))
ReplyDeleteNoah's in stitches. He wants to know if you can mount a ski on the front wheel in the wintertime. :))
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't surprise me, Lady Red.
ReplyDeleteLMAO!! I can't believe that thing's for real!
ReplyDeleteIt's like the Ford Fart, or whatever it's called - that GREEN car that we spent our stimulus money on - haven't they recalled them for blowing up?
Dumb green schmucks.

The Ford Fart? LMAO!!! Florrie, you're a treasure!
ReplyDeleteI will be giggling about the Ford Fart all day. Probably tomorrow, too.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's why Intelligent (3 wheel car) Design has the two wheels in front and the single wheel out back, like a Morgan Trike.
ReplyDeleteAnd Florrie, what a cruel joke at the expense of Ford, which took no stimulus money, when it should be turned to GM, which took billions.
Messerschmidt also had a three-wheeled car with the single wheel in the rear. It looked like an airplane without wings and a tail.

ReplyDeleteYes, why couldn't they have figured that out? It obviously could take corners better, WTH?!?
I was close! It's the Chevy Volt!
ReplyDeleteI like the Ford Fast even better.

Federal
Auto
Recovery
Task force.
His superiors were not amused.

And no perforations created by Mr. Supermarine...
/couldn't resist- we beat them at their national sport. Twice.
I have a soft spot for these crazy trikes- DelBoy and Rodney of "Trotter's Trading" used one in the show. Hysterical!
ReplyDeleteUnsafe at any speed, though...? Mind you, the Italians' Piaggio trike trucklets are still in use.

@ annie: in IRL- my mate's mum had the entire series on DVD. I o/d'd on DelBoy et al. at night after a full day of travelling ;)
