Something To Warm Your Heart On A Dreary Monday

On October 20th, a debate was held between to candidates for the House in the 8th District of Illinois.

The League Of Women Voters moderated, and as the moderator was explaining the format, a question was raised in the audience.

  1. And the LOWV is upset that this crowd of unruly hooligans forced others to participate in this show of phoney patriotism.

I wish I could say /sarc, but that is how they feel.

  2. The moderator is an idiot, and the LOWV is skating on thin ice by attacking the voters who attended this debate. I'm sure that there was more than one democrat who recited the pledge too; who exactly are they calling "hooligans"?

It seems to me that there are three distinct groups in this country; the knee-jerk idealogues (of all stripes), those who are either subsisting from or are making a fortune from the policies and idiotic blatherings of the idealogues, and us.

By "us" I mean working Americans, whether they be democrats, indies, or republicans. You know, the people who INSIST on saying the Pledge of Allegiance, and experience that swelling of pride and loyalty deep down inside. THAT "us".

  3. I guess I'm just a jingoistic, gun-toting conservative but that gave me a lump in my throat and brought a tear to my eye.

Can you imagine someone saying we CAN'T recite the pledge? God bless those people.

  7. We have been told for years that we cannot say things such as the Pedle of Allegiance because it might offend people. It is about time that we stood up and said that we are offended by not being able to say it.
