According to the New York Times, police stops of whites was more than five times the reported incidence of their commission of violent crimes! Oh, those Racist NYPD Bastards!
Of course, the Times did not quite have that in mind.
Oh, and as an aside, I found out why the the Times praised the book 'Flags Of Our Fathers' by trying to read another book, 'Flyboys' by the same author. This book purported to report the torture and murder of a number of US Navy pilots on the island of Chichi Jima.
However, I gave up on it after about 40 pages spent detailing the EVILS committed by America from slavery to the viciousness of the Moro wars in the Philippines. I really do not know if the author was ever going to get to the cruelties of the Japanese in WWII, as I dropped the damn book into the return bin at the library after that.
I once read a book about the U.S. Marshalls service. Interesting book, but for some reason the author felt it necessary to spend a chapter detailing how dysfunctional the Reagan family was.
ReplyDeleteWhy do authors feel the need to address irrelevant topics? I don't know. If the author Dances mentions wanted to do a book about the evils of America, fine -- go for it. It is as though, when it comes to the U.S., liberals feel that "you can't rape a prostitute." No matter what anyone does to the U.S., you cannot discuss that without also naming things that the U.S. has done -- even if it as in the distant past -- and that somehow mitigates what is done to it.
