Patrick Buchanan is often (usually?) a dick, but sometimes he gets it perfectly right.
I do note that he tarred both Bushes, and Clinton, but left the administration he worked for off the hook, despite the fact that the Free Trade debacle started under Reagan.
I remember those days, and the arguments for opening our borders to trade from all over the world. Sigh, it seemed like such a good idea at the time
Yep, he nailed it all right.
ReplyDeleteGlobalists. Bleh.
Bringing back tariffs would be a good start, but that doesn't look likely to happen.
So since I am dreaming:
We just need to go into a nice isolationist state, let the rest of the world sort itself and its debts out, abolish the Fed, create our own currency, industry, and markets, and lock out the planet.
Course, that ain't likely to happen, but it'd sure be nice. After a bit of chaos, it'd be very nice indeed.
I have had thought of being a senior official in the State Department. My main way of doing things would be to tell others to f*** off unless they wanted to do things our way.
ReplyDeleteNo more foreign aid. None of our soldiers to clean up their garbage, just to have those countries complain about how we do things. If they want us to do it, then they must let us do it the way we see fit. No war by committee. If they are so dammed worried about collateral damage, then they can let the collateral rot under the thumb of insurgents.
Is that the alarm clock already?
Hehe - no Matt, just hit "snooze" ;O)
ReplyDeleteOf course, we wouldn't need to worry about collateral damage in my scenario because we had just decided to let the Middle East rot and destroy itself, we had our soldiers back home, where they were busy helping rebuild and protect America FROM America.
Hitting "SNOOZE" now....
