In my office, I have a signet ring that was loaned to me by Israel's Department of Antiquities. The ring was found next to the Western wall, but it dates back some 2,800 years ago, two hundred years after King David turned Jerusalem into our capital city. The ring is a seal of a Jewish official, and inscribed on it in Hebrew is his name: Netanyahu. Netanyahu Ben-Yoash. That's my last name. My first name, Benjamin, dates back 1,000 years earlier to Benjamin, the son of Jacob.
*snip*
The connection between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel cannot be denied. The connection between the Jewish people and Jerusalem cannot be denied. The Jewish people were building Jerusalem 3,000 year ago and the Jewish people are building Jerusalem today. Jerusalem is not a settlement. It is our capital.
Read it all. You'll be glad you did.
I heard the portion about the Jewish people building Jerusalem 3000 years ago and today.
ReplyDeleteAs impressive as the words are to read, hearing them is better.
I love him too, lady red; I wish he was running our country.
ReplyDeleteI trust that you all heard that The Messiah refused to have his picture taken with Netanyahu.
ReplyDeleteObama is doing his best to be the absolute worst Presidnet the Unitesd States ever had. If we could only find a Netanyahu.
I hadn't heard that Matt. We had to turn off the TV. Too much craziness.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't surprise me. I don't believe that Obama is Israel's friend. He'd rather bow and scrape to a Saudi dictator than have his picture taken with an Israeli hero.
If Obama was Israel's friend, I would start to wonder about Israel.
ReplyDeleteGood point Matt.
ReplyDeleteI adore Bibi, I just hope he doesn't get railroaded like the last time he was PM.
He is the most articulate, urbane, and sophisticated PM Israel ever had and he won't be talked down to. He has the spirit and passion of the Israeli pioneers and my heart cheers for him and Israel everytime I see his name in the news.
As an aside, I'm sure Bibi's Bubbe's were wonderful cooks but they probably didn't have a blog like this Bubbe does.
ReplyDeleteOy vey! Mastering The Blintzes of Bubbe's Cooking
He made me proud to be an Israeli and proud that he's our PM. All that Obama has managed to do with this manufactured crisis over Jerusalem housing is to make more Israelis stand with Bibi - even the left-wing. As I think Brett Stephens put it in the WSJ - Obama's actions were intended to be anti-Bibi but in Israel they were seen as anti-Israel.
ReplyDeleteBibi said: "Militant Islam does not hate the West because of Israel. It hates Israel because of the West - because it sees Israel as an outpost of freedom and democracy that prevents them from overrunning the Middle East"
ReplyDeleteExactly.
Now I will use that line to explain my rose....

i ADORE him. He's one of the few remaining statesmen

ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more, very well-said.
I was aghast at BOs treatment of the PM. It made my blood boil. I'm counting the days until BO amscrays; he's an embarrassment to the office.
