  7. Uh oh, NBC is signing off from Vancouver...does that mean they NOT broadcasting the Canada game?!?

    @#$%^&!!!!

  8. No NBC station showed the game on TV in the Portland, Oregon area. I watched the game on the computer. However, as soon as the Great Britain-Norway curling match started, we got that on TV.

    Amazing.

  9. I loathe NBC, I really do.

Are you feeling better since your surgery, Jourdan?

  10. Ditto. I'm only watching NBC under duress.

Yoohoo, Jourdan, inquiring minds want to know!

  11. Thanks for asking. I am healing, but slowly. It hurts all day and obviously sitting down or lying down doesn't really help. I am also constantly shocked at just how deeply bruised I am and how widespread it is.

On the plus side, getting laid off really worked out for me. I start my new job in late March and am moving to Virginia in mid-March, so I have plenty of time to rest and recuperate.

I'm sleeping a lot and am still pretty heavily drugged on pain pills, so the days have been passing by and I feel more than a bit out of it. It's all more than a bit freaky and surreal....

  12. Oh my Jourdan! It doesn't sound like you're having much fun. Get lots of rest, eat good foods, and be careful of those pesky little pain pills.

Are you and your family looking forward to moving to Virginia?

  13. Wow! Who put the vitamins in the Canadians' Wheaties! They're blazing out there! And Luongo is in the zone.

We are looking forward to the move. We don't know where we'll end up from there, though we are hoping for Eastern Europe or one of the 'Stans (except Afghanistan...)

  15. Hugs to you, Jourdan; I hope you improve quickly, it's the pits to be in such pain.

OTOH, it's nice you're so excited about the new job, you can look up afw & family!

  16. Wow Jourdan, ouch! Wish you lived nearby, I'd make a feed store run and get you some DMSO to get you healed faster.
Is 3 weeks going to be enough recovery time for you before having to move? I know even with movers doing the major lifting there's just ALWAYS a lot of stuff that needs doing before a move :O&
So Virginia in the springtime, huh? Sounds lovely! Maybe not quite Portugal, but hey - more English speakers in VA! :OD

  17. We're back from our day out in the Olympic city! We didn't have tickets to anything but we went to lots of the pavillions and saw the Olympic cauldron which, by the way, is completely stunning.

We also happened to be in one venue when they had Canada's latest Gold Medal winner Ashleigh McIvor (she was when we were there, since then we won another Gold). She was the womens skicross winner.

Pictures to come. A really neat day and a great day for Canada, one gold, two silvers and a bronze.

Oh, and we beat the firebird off the asses of the Russians. GO CANADA!

  18. How fun, Fay! I can't wait to see the pictures!

Now please hurry up and knock Germany out of 2nd place :-)

  19. CANADA defeats Russia....what a nice evening. The next two games were cool, too. I loved the NBC commentator's post game remark about the "Russian & the Euro-Trash game"...suprised his co-anchors who asked "did you really say that?"

As Jeremy Roenick remarked: "The Russians could do with a few less passes just inside the blue line...."

Nobody better schedule me to for anything else Friday, Saturday, or Sunday...sorry, not available, bite me, buh bye, etc. yada yada.

  20. It was INSANITY!!! Crazy day for Canadians on the medal front!!! I was at Whistler watching the women's double bobsleigh comp where we took both GOLD AND SILVER!!! Pure mayhem!!! Got some AMAZING (and I mean AMAZING) pictures of it - crashes et all.

I am up at her early this morning, working at the Vancouver Athletes Village today - and from what I heard yesterday thru the O-grape line, the Russians are PISSED!!! Its gonna be an interesting next couple of days!!! OOOH! Yesterday was worth today's exhaustion!

  21. Hey Fay!! Welcome to Raincouver!!! How long are you here til???

  22. ~KC~

We live here! Well in Langley actually, but I lived in the west end for many years.

  23. ~KC~ ... (serious question) who was repsonible to for running that Giant Slalom first run in all that fog and moisture? Not sure in Olympics whether it is the OC or the FIS or both. Whomever, they screwed up.

Otherwise they've run a great race program on amazing courses.

Also,it is about dang time the FIS and OC stop this interlocking start thing for at least the top seeds...e.g., the first 30 ranked skiers. There is no good reason for it. It's been a problem before. In that soup it was a bigger problem.

  24. ~KC~...no worries, the Russina are always pissed...it's both cultural and genetic. Best so far:Ruskie figure skater who didn't get gold whining about his quad jump not counting for everything. Sob. Back to gulag sucka!

Oh, and nice haircut there dude...if you were a 1st century AD Roman.

  25. The Women's Giant Slalom race is complete now. Tine Maze (Solvenia) won silver....a proper fulfillment for a beautiful precise skier who has been top 10 all this year. That's her second silver medal.

Julia Mancuso (USA) laid down the 3rd fastest 2nd run, 9/100ths off the best run, and 40/100ths faster than the combined runs winner... and raised her rank from 18 to 8 as a result....another vindication.

Both Maze and Mancuso are precise skiers who can win when they let it go and take the risks. I am quite happy for both of them, as much as I am for Vonn and Riesch in their medals. Look for Riesch to win gold in Slalom, with Vonn on the podium too if she doesn't bomb off course.

Canadian Britt Janyk, the best of the Canadian techncial skiers and a fine speed skier, was never really in the running in Giant Slalom.
