DUNKIRK

Just go see it.  In IMAX.  Brilliant movie.  The soundtrack and cinematography are superlative.  Should be compulsory viewing for anyone born after 1980.

I had a recurring thought throughout this movie, that the horror of WW11 could almost be justified.  That is until Europe caved without resistance to the islamic invasion of their continent.   For shame.

  1. Fay, thanks for the nudge. I gotta make time for this.

  2. No real plot to the film. More of several concurrent character studies of how people handle a difficult situation. The acting is also great (knowing Kenneth Branagh is in it should tell you that).

No CGI, either. All of it was carefully recreated action before the cameras.

Seeing it on a 70 foot IMAX screen really put us there. We felt we were with the soldiers right from the first scene.

We saw Saving Private Ryan in the theaters (no IMAX for it) and felt the same way. I was reading somewhere that Spielberg was thinking of re-releasing more films in the IMAX format after he saw how good Indiana Jones turned out. I'm hoping Saving Private Ryan will be one of them...

  4. Oh dear...what is CGI?

I heard this movie sucked, because there are no wimyn, blacks, trannies, or Frenchmen. Accurate portrayals are frowned upon, citizen. Everyone gets a trophy. Everyone is a hero.

SRSLY though, I'd love to see this!

    1. Sacre bleu! Actually there was a black soldier and a French soldier and at least three wimmins. No trannies though, pretty sure of that.

      CGI is computer generated imagery.

  5. No trannies? Hmmm, sounds gender-biased to me, I may not go. Of course, I identify as a height-challenged Dutch giraffe so find most films to be discriminatory in one way or another.

But seriously, I've heard this is a great film, can't wait to see it.
