Tragedy For Poland

A horrific plane crash has killed Polish President Lech Kaczynski. The plane was attempting to land in heavy fog, and apparently hit trees at the end of the runway. Kaczynski and other members of the Polish government were traveling to Smolensk when the crash occurred.

Television showed chunks of flaming fuselage scattered in a bare forest near Smolensk, where the president was arriving for a ceremony commemorating the murder of more than 20,000 Polish officers by the Soviet secret police after the Red Army invaded Poland.

There were no survivors.  Our deepest sympathies go out to the families of all who perished, and to the Polish people.
