Continuing (with your indulgence) a series of posts featuring artists I have seen live. Tonight (and previously featured on the Table) British Jazz legends Cleo Laine and John Dankworth. My mother was a big fan and this is the reason I was/am familiar with their music. I saw them both in concert 3 or 4 times in the 80's.
Enjoy.
With the number of concerts you have been to and the different genre's of music, you could write a book.
ReplyDeleteVery good - I know the name Cleo Lane, but don't think I'd ever heard her sing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that
FINALLY, tomorrow, after 6 months of waiting, I am going for my Brakke therapy, wherein my prostate will be irradiated from within. It is supposed to have a 95% success rate, but I suppose we shall see
ReplyDeleteI hope that your surgery went well DWT! How are you feeling???
DeleteLoved this, Fay. Like you, I know of Cleo Laine because my dad was a fan. I saw her in concert many moons ago at the Paramount (IIRC) and she was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI hope this works. Never really liked this song a lot, but now it fits, so well especially the line about not standing too close.
ReplyDeleteActually the whole process was a clusterfark from the beginning. Lack of communication in nearly every phase, right up to and including today, when I was informed that they were going to drug me so strongly that a machine would do my breathing, and that I would also have my very first catheter.
ReplyDeleteGot my into OR more than two hours late, and I amazed them by waking quickly and dressing long before the surgical crew came to talk to me for after-incident reports.
They were also amazed that I pulled off the pads that had been so thoughtfully taped onto the inside of my thighs, just behind the scrotum, without benefit of shaving first.
Why yes I did yell, but probably nothing that hardened surgical nurses had not heard before.
Gus drove me home that the hardest thunderstorm we've had this year, then went home himself, though the hospital understood that he would be with me for 24 hours, but he needs to go to work, also.
Have not been able to sleep, yet, Gave up about an hour ago and made coffee.
Sigh.
Anyway, there's a lot more, and I might do a post on it soon.
I Hope the worst is behind you and things will get much better, Dances.
ReplyDeleteYou boys take care of yourselves. Prayers going out to you both...
ReplyDeleteMatt I hope your troubles are now under control, as well. A little more healing to do than I have.
ReplyDeleteModern pacemakers are excellent
I hear cannabis is super healing!

Still, however, not legal everywhere. Besides, I've somehow developed the munchies already over the last few days and see an unpleasant difference already.
ReplyDeleteLet's see how I do on my first day back at work, today
Dances, I know all the young women look like children when you get to our age, but I'm pretty sure the chick is legal ;)
DeleteHeheheheh
ReplyDeleteCleo's voice is incredible. She has amazing range, and I love the smoky quality of her voice. Wow!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fay...I would definitely enjoy seeing her in concert!
