Oh no, Dances!! Isn't this your second time having it this year? Gosh, I'm sorry to hear that. We both had it in May and I've never been so sick in my life. Take care, hope you can just stay in bed for the weekend and rest.
Florrie, I think this time it started from helping to clean up after the flash-flooding at my work last month, including some sewer backup with lots of bacteria. My doctor said there are many cases in DuBois, PA where I work.
One of my co-workers also got it from cleaning up at his home, which was lower, and therefore much worse, than the store.
Trouble is, I had scheduled a vacation, beginning today, and instead, have used my leave time being sick for the past week.
I'm so sorry you're ill again Dances. We were just given a great natural cure which can't harm to try. Take a ginger root, wash it, cut it up and boil it for an hour, and then drink it. You can also keep it warm in a thermos and drink it over the day. It's supposed to work wonders for hoarse voices, and comes highly recommended by a Canadian friend of ours who sings in the synagogue choir.
You may not have "just" a sore throat, but I would guess that the ginger might ease some of your symptoms.
Second vote for the ginger. Systemic anti-inflamatory action. Also a decongestant. I take it several ways (my wife made slow-cooked root veggies today with as much ginger as we can stand)... there is some craft ginger-ale and ginger-beer which is downright medicinal it's so hot. Ginger is good stuff.
Especially for pulmonary issues (bronchitis, etc) it's helpful to brew green tea with a few thin slices of ginger. If the fresh ginger is too much for you, candied ginger is fine also.
I have COPD and this works. It really does help, Dances.
I'm sorry you're sick Dances. Bronchitis is miserable. Nurse Red sez: drink lots of water to keep the mucus thinned out, and get lots of rest. Nurse Red's mom sez: cinnamon toast and hot tea! Hope you're feeling better very soon.
Those are great, Fay! I love it after all the downer news lately. I've been saving a bunch too, I guess now is a good time to post them...

Fay, your last gif reminded me of this. Gawd, I wish I could see Burton Cummings in concert.
I think he still tours florrie, in fact I think he was here not so long ago.
DeleteThanks for the laughs. I am up half the night because I have bronchitis, again.
ReplyDeleteAfter I wake up and cough out mucous for an hour, then sleep for an hour, etc. . .
Oh noes :(
DeleteHope you feel better in a hurry xoxoxo

One good thing, however, I've gotten 2 John Connolly and 4 Dean Koontz books read this week, and am 1/3 of the way into my 5th one.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could read that volume! It takes me forever, I usually only read after I hit the sack.
DeleteWhat an awful way to get bronchitis, ugh. No good deed goes unpunished...

Wow florrie, that's quite the collection. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThese were great Florrie! I've been having such a giggle! :))
ReplyDeleteOops - thanks to Fay too! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice about ginger. I have some 'naturally-flavored' ginger ale, which helps the throat, but have not gone so far as fresh-brewed.
