I'm cryin', and I shouldn't be cryin'

After 35 missions as a pilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress during WWII, in 2008, Marvin Skuback flies one final time.

Hell, I'm crying too.

  1. It's hard to believe but I think they used to fly about a thousand planes on missions to bomb major cities.

I wonder what a modern air defense system would do against a thousand B17s. Every missile would hit a plane - they'd be sitting ducks - but does anybody really have a thousand SAMs ready to fire anymore? Any flack guns? LOL. No.

Of course the pilots and crew would pay a price... oh wait. We wouldn't need pilots. With drone nav tech a dozen guys sitting in the Nevada desert could fly the whole formation.

I'm betting the Chinese have already thought of this.
