Enough is Enough

So Comey, Clapper, McCabe, and their ilk will not face justice; one law for the swamp and one law for the rest of us. Barr has outed himself as a swampcreature (which many of us suspected all along). And Trump? First Sessions and now Barr. The alphabet agencies engaged in open sedition.  Border fence not built. Shoveling money at Israel as fast as it can be printed. Immigration a mess. Kissing the buttocks of every special interest group the left can cobble together. Pedophile rings being openly and unapologetically protected by the cops and the gov't. The cart-pullers no better off than they were 4 years ago. And on and on.

Trust in Washington is non-existent in my house. The FBI, which I always pictured as a bunch of wholesome Mormons in crisp white shirts and ties, fighting for God and the American Way, was and is an illusion. Trump, who I thought was unable to be bought, has been either bought, co-opted, or is too stupid to understand what his base has been demanding.

Change my mind, comrades. Give me some hope that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't the lantern of Charon.

  1. Trump cannot do everything by himself. He needs other people to do things, too. He does have to walk on eggshells to a certain extent. In the meantime I think he is getting a lot of things done. He also is a shrewd negotiator who knows that if you appear too anxious to get something done, your opponents will do everything they can to drag things out as long as possible.

I think I have mentioned this before, but I remember the negotiations during the Viet Nam War. LBJ wanted an agreement before he left office. What happened? North Viet Nam spend months negotiating the shape of the negotiation table. Was the shape of the table important to them? No. But LBJ put a deadline on himself, meaning he was more likely to give up more than he had to just to meet his self-imposed deadline. Trump don’t play that game. He’ll wait you out. In the meantime he is doing an end run around you in many other areas.

I can’t say that I am disappointed about Comey. I expected it. Pissed off, yes; disappointed, no. It is as if the elite want the US to have a royal family. The Kennedys, the Bushes, the Clintons, and probably the Obama’s. I see signs, however, that the American people are “mad as hell and aren’t going to take it anymore.” Republican Never Trumpers have exposed themselves to be the Quislings that they are. People aren’t going to listen to them as they used to. For some reason I get FB posts from Mitt Romney. Generally speaking, most of the comments tell him to go engage in auto-intercourse.

Don’t give up the ship. It took a long time for us to get into this mess. It will take some time to get us out. You have to remember that the easier it would be for Trump to do what we want him to do, the easier it would be for someone down the line to do the opposite. Give time for Trump to make sure what he does is anchored firmly in concrete.

  2. Shoveling money at Israel as fast as it can be printed.
    I resemble that remark!

What money precisely are you talking about? The fact that Trump left the military aid to Israel untouched? The aid that Obama affirmed? With 10,000 strings attached so that the money can only be spent IN THE US ITSELF? Thereby strengthening the AMERICAN military industries?

Is it only aid to Israel that is bothering you? Or is it aid to Egypt and South Korea too?

The truth is I think Israel would be better off without this aid, we can well stand on our own two feet. But the US doesn't want to cut the aid because it keeps Israel "under control", always just a "little threat" away from "something" happening to us. Plus, as I said, the majority of the aid money has to spent in America on American goods, thereby strengthening American industry AND WEAKENING ISRAEL'S industry. (which is one very good reason why Israel should refuse the aid).

Now I understand your distress at what is happening in your country but please don't take your anger out on us.

    1. Hi Anne, thanks for your reply. It's good to "see" you! I'm not taking my anger out on Israel, I'm angry at my own government. Americans need to get their own house in order before financing other nations. I spotlighted Israel because (1) it's in the news every day, and (2) we're talking about a ton of money. I would also like to curtail money to Afghanistan and Iraq. And everywhere, for that matter.

Where will Israel be if the US implodes? Because that's what is happening. We need a better plan. A MUCH better plan.

    2. Hi annie, lady red, well, gosh. Even now things are changing faster than we can keep up with.

For all intents and purposes, the US is imploding. The levant has seen hegemons come and go. This one is on the way out. There is nothing much we can do to change that... the trajectory will be very unpredictable from here.

The deal that goes back to FDR and al Saud is off.

Because there's nothing the US (or anyone) can do to protect the Saudi oil infrastructure.

And the manifest inability of the US to do anything to check Iran in the multi-front not-quite-but-almost war is dawning on everyone.
