  1. I voted on Friday. I had to wait in line quite awhile; too many deplorable-looking people ahead of me.

  2. I have my eye on Texas, Tennessee, and Arizona. I'm not a huge Ted Cruz fan, but "Beto" makes my skin crawl. What a phony!

  3. The House races will tell the tale. It's possible I could attempt an actual cartwheel when the results come in. Please keep 911 on standby. :))

  4. Here in my flyover state, we're also voting on casinos and minimum wage hikes. What are some of the interesting issues where you are?

  5. Have any results come in yet? How does the picture look or is too early to tell?

    1. The polls will open shortly. Today is the last day to vote, and results will begin to come in tonight. It's too early to tell which way it will swing, but I'm hoping the indies will vote R in large numbers. And maybe even a few democrats; many "normie" dems are fed up with the far-left ridiculousness.

  6. I submitted my ballot by email last week, but I got a response saying they no longer accepted email ballots unless I was in the military or overseas and that I might have to take further action.

Due to the ambiguity of that email (did they consider "overseas" to be synonymous with "out of the country?") we got my ballot ready to mail and drove it down to the lovely town of Lynden, Washington -- which seems to be conservative territory.

Washington State no longer has polling places, apparently. You either mail it or put it in drop off boxes. Since King County, where I am registered, is a three hour drive, I mailed my ballot rather than drive down for a drop off box.

    Measures on the ballot:

Initiative 1631 -- If passed, this would charge pollution fees to sources of greenhouse gasses (would that mean they would tax Democrat politicians?).

(As a side note: I misspelled "greenhouse" above. The two suggested spellings were "greenhouse" and "whorehouse.")

Initiative 1634 -- A measure that would make it illegal for local governments to add tax local taxes to specific types of grocery items -- spurred on by Seattle's taxes on soft drinks and other beverages containing sugar.

Initiative 1639 -- This would increase the background, training, age limitations, and waiting periods for purchasing firearms. You know, the old, "We won't enforce the laws on the books now so let's add some more."

Initiative 94 -- Would require police officers to be psychiatrists, surgeons, and ordained ministers in an effort to keep violent felons from being killed while turning their lives around.

Advisory vote 19 -- This would repeal a tax expanded by the legislature that increased fees to pay for cleaning up oil spills.

I imagine that the Dems will have their hands full trying to falsify the results in order to get Dems elected to office, so they will be too busy to doctor the results on these measures.

    2. The wording on the ballot on measure 940 (oops, I put 94):

"Initiative Measure No. 940 concerns law enforcement. This measure would require law enforcement to receive violence de-escalation, mental-health, and first-aid training, and provide first-aid; and change standards for use of deadly force, adding a "good faith" standard and independent
      investigation.

Should this measurebe enacted into law?"

  7. Hilarious recap of Washington's initiatives Matt. I've never heard of a state where cops didn't receive basic first aid training (CPR, Heimlich, etc). As for the rest, pfft. It sounds like Seattle vs the rest of the state. Same as everywhere, rural vs urban.

    1. King (Seattle), Pierce (Tacoma), Thuston (Olympia — home of Evergreen State College and the Tate Capitalj), and Snohomish Counties pretty much dictate to the rest of the state.

  9. Years ago members of the Washington State Patrol were certified EMT’s. I think that ended, but it just shows the concept is not new.

I saw a video on YouTube of a police office who was doing some heavy duty first aid on a guy he just shot in a gun battle. II don’t know hat state that was, but I bet most police officers know some pretty intense stuff.

  10. When we drove down to cross the border so Matt could mail his ballot, Matt said to the CBP officer "nothing to declare". The officer (as per usual) asked us where we lived and where we were going. Matt answered the town we live in and then said "I'm going to Lynden to mail my ballot" to which the officer replied "Ah! so you do have something to declare!" He started giggling and waved us on our way.

    1. The Aldergrove crossing is more laid back than Peace Arch or the “truck crossing.”

    2. We have people here bitching that the lines are too long. It heartens me to see someone go so far out of their way to vote!

    3. lady red, even though Matt now lives in Canada he remains a US citizen, he has to file US tax returns and is subject to IRS tax regs. I would go out of my way to vote as well if I were him.

  11. So...Fox News has called the House for Dems when polling places are still open and only a fraction of votes have been counted? Idiots. I'm the last one to propose new laws, but there should be a law against this kind of stunt.

    1. I saw that on facebook and couldn’t understand, both because as you say the polls are still open and secondly because I thought Fox was solidly right and pro-Trump. What’s the story here?

    2. They're Never Trumpers for the most part. It's a bad move to call a race, let alone the entire House, with the polls still open.

  14. Gillum losing in Florida was racism. James losing in Michigan is because the better candidate won.

    1. Not a better candidate. Michigan dems are straight-up racists. And they hate the military too. (how am I doing coach?)

I feel to riot. And break things. Oh wait...no I don't. I'm a reasonable person.

    2. I trust that you see the point of my comments. Democrats are out and out rascists. That is obvious. My remarks were reflecting what Leftists would say.

When someone they like loses, it is because of bigotry. When someone they don’t like loses, it is because of the superiority of their candidate.

  18. I wonder what happens to the caravan now that the Dems have captured the House? Will all of these people be abandoned in Mexico?
