How did this happen?

Perhaps you have seen the news: there was a shooting today. This shooting will get lots of press coverage over the following weeks and months.

You see, this shooting took place in some red-neck area of the United States and the shooter was identified as Whitey O'Bigot. O'Bigot's family said the shooter has suffered from mental illness all of his life and has been denied any help by the terrible American health-care system that is more interested in profits over people.

Oh, I'm sorry. My information was incorrect.

The shooting took place in Toronto, Ontario. You know, in Canada where people are safe because there are strict gun laws and its fabulous health-care system. Oh, and the shooter's name was Faisal Hussain.

So you'd better read the news stories before they fall into the black hole of politically motivated amnesia.

The mayor of Toronto, where it is pretty much illegal to own a gun, wants to make it more illegal to own a gun. The citizens of Toronto feel better already.
