A funny thing happened on the way to the Table.

There are, or were, features that would send an email if a new post or comment was made on the Table. I depended on that to let me know if something was going on here. I would then take a look and then read and comment. I just recently discovered that something happened. The features disappeared or were disabled. It came as a shock that several posts and a number of comments had been made that I had missed. I guess it is my fault for depending on technology. Or is it part of a nefarious plot!? This is just a word to let you know that I will try and watch things more diligently and keep up with events on the Table!

  1. This is Vikram. Yes. Hello how are you. I am fine yes.

If you go to our blog main dashboard – go to www.blogger.com and navigate from there if you're not sure - you should see menu options down the left side of the dashboard. The "Settings" option is about half way down. Click that. Then "Email". There will be a box with a list of email addresses, preceded by the text "Email posts to ?". Click on the "?" and it will tell you that these addresses are sent emails when the posts are made. I added mine and after handshaking a confirmation from the email address that I listed, it added me, and successfully sent me an email when I posted a test post just now. So there's that.

Having said all that, there's a number of things that could have spuriously changed on Google's backend - e.g. the GPDR mess and whatnot.

Check the email addresses in the box - so far only myself, you, and fay have signed up to receive notification of all posts.

Or, do what you do when you think you might have a jammed gun in the field: just f**king clear it ASAP.

In this case that means deleting your email from the list, saving the sentence, log out, log out of the computer, turn off the computer, leave the county, count to ten... reverse each in order and add your email back. (You can abbreviate the list within reason).

And you know that ought to work. It might, even.

  2. "saving the sentence" above should of course be "saving the settings"...

  3. Maybe I am silly, but if I have to keep checking a setting to be sure that the setting has not changed, then I see no point in having the setting. ;)

    1. Just mentally think of things wearing out.

It worked for a long time. Then it broke. Like a trailer hitch. One day you get to wondering why the pickup has gotten so fast lately and _bam_, it hits you that you haven't seen the trailer lately.

To be honest I'm surprised the blogrot hasn't been worse!

  4. Lot's of things change. Browser updates probably are a big contributor to many problems. Plus changes site providers have to do to keep the EU happy probably manifest themselves in a number of ways as well.

I just didn't want everyone to think I was abandoning you all.

I was having a nice trip down memory lane yesterday going back and reading lots of old posts and comments. I enjoyed it.

And many thanks to Vikram for his tireless efforts.

  5. And am I the only one who has to manually add breaks between paragraphs in posts?
