Anarchy in Dallas

God in heaven.

At least ten police officers have been shot in Dallas at a BLM protest. They were ambushed by snipers; three are confirmed dead, three are in critical condition.

Live stream here.

I've been troubled by the militarization of our community police, and I'm certainly troubled by bad cops shooting unarmed suspects (no matter how sleazy).  But what has happened in Dallas is beyond comprehension.

The situation is still very tense. It's open season on our men and women in blue. Snipers! How cowardly. If this doesn't qualify as terrorism, I don't know what does.

    2. No arrests. Police are searching for the suspects and also looking for explosive devices.

  2. Oh no! I appreciate you posting about it, lady red as we've been watching the Burn's Civil War series tonight so I had no idea. This is dreadful news, I feel like we're on the edge of anarchy.

Some of the cops were shot in the back.

    Lowlife scum.

  7. From the excellent coverage at Breitbart:

Update 11:43: Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, Jr. tweeted “America needs Obama to get out of bed & address Dallas situation NOW. He poured gas on this situation with his dog whistle message earlier.”

    1. I think they've been trying to get a race/class war going for a while (see "Occupy"). "Fundamental change" ring any bells? Looks like Ferguson and Baltimore were just the beginning...

    2. The answer to your question is YES Fay. Like Lyana said, "fundamental change". Chaos, anarchy, race war.

    3. The people they plan on going against are used to being productive citizens rather than having things handed to them.

They are going to be surprised.

  9. Sorry - this is going to be more of a stream of consciousness ramble; it's the way my thoughts are now... Apologies in advance for any and all errors.

My sister works at a charter school in Baltimore in a mostly black school. Her story about the atmosphere of shame, grief and confusion of the students in the aftermath of the Baltimore riots was heartbreaking; school's not in session, but many, many children are going to be struggling in the aftermath of this horror.

I hate that I would no longer feel safe where I grew up, that I do now pre-judge - when I see someone of darker skin tone, I wonder if they do hate me simply because I am "white". I hate the acceptance of lawlessness. I hate how this will affect people who share skin tone with the perps but not their anger and warped world view, I hate how this will be used to billy-club paler people. I hate the excuses that will be made. I hate the divide that has been fomented and broken into open war; riots are not remotely acceptable, but a coordinated sniper attack/assassination on figures of authority is something entirely different. I hate the evil that fudges numbers and whispers half truths so that people become convinced that they are victims. I hate people in places of power misusing the trust given them to maintain their own power, truth be damned.

    4. Thank you, ladies. It's horrible to see something you love being destroyed. You know it's not perfect, and that things haven't always been done right, but considering the alternatives, it's pretty darned good. It feels so hopeless; there is so much delusion, so many people who believe so much that is just not true, so many who are quite literally getting away with murder. Huh... I think I'm going to go read some Pslams - the Pslamist flipping out about how horrible things were is a pretty regular theme - but then coming back to the goodness of G-d, and hope that things are being seen and will be made right. I think I need that right now.

  12. When will the masses realise that the media, both social and mainstream, only pickup the "victim's" story? On Weazel Zippers today was the LOOOOOOOOOONG list of criminal charges against Alton Sterling:

    9/09/96 aggravated battery

    10/31/97 2nd degree battery

    1/06/98 simple battery

    5/04/00 public intimidation

9/20/00 carnal knowledge of a juvenile

    9/04/01 domestic violence

5/24/05 burglary of an inhabited dwelling place

    7/11/05 receiving stolen things

9/12/05 burglary of inhabited dwelling place

3/17/06 simple criminal damage to property, simple robbery, simple theft, drug possession, misrepresentation during booking, simple battery, aggravated battery

4/12/06 aggravated battery, simple criminal damage to property, disturbing the peace, unauthorized entry

    4/04/08 domestic abuse battery

6/03/09 resisting an officer, drug possession, receiving stolen things, possession of stolen firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon with CDs, sound reproduct without consent

10/12/09 illegal carrying of weapon, marijuana possession

8/13/15 failure to register as a sex offender

4/08/16 failure to register as a sex offender

    6/14/16 ecstacy and marijuana possession

None of that makes it OK if the cops shot him while he was subdued. And that’s the argument here; if he was subdued at the time he was shot, it’s a bad shooting and the two cops involved, Blane Salamoni and Howie Lake II, need to face criminal charges for it.

But if not, and he was actually reaching for the gun he had on him, which would have been an illegal gun and it wouldn’t be the first time he had an illegal gun on him when the cops arrested him (and it wouldn’t be the first time he was resisting arrest, either), then there isn’t much to argue about here.

What this arrest record shows is not the story the family and the “community” is trying to paint, of a “misunderstood” poor father trying to earn a living selling CD’s. He got arrested three weeks ago on drug possession – that’s hardly somebody trying to turn his life around. His arrest record shows that, charitably, he was a wannabe drug dealer but wasn’t very good at it.

    1. Just to be clear, the narrative after the arrest record above is from Weazel Zippers not me.

    2. The fact is that the community is a better place without Alton. He's a waste of oxygen. This was a taxpayer relief shot(s).

BUT, cops can't go around shooting people. I watched the video, and it looked like his hands were empty. I don't know what they pulled out of his pocket, but it was very small. It could've been a Saturday Night Special or something similar, I suppose.

I have no sympathy for Alton, his family, or his neighborhood.

If the cops are bad, charge 'em. If not, this will end up like the Freddie Gray debacle.

The left better reel things in, and quickly, or they aren't going to know what hit them. They have been listening to their own crap for so long that they believe that most people feel the way they do. They are wrong.

I find it amazing that people who think we should not have guns to protect ourselves because we have the police to protect us also cheer when police are murdered in cold blood.

    1. lady red, I was clicking through the cable channels and I saw Fox News was interviewing some people who had been at the protest. One of them started talking about how this CANNOT have anything to do with BLM, that BLACK LIVES MATTER and it better not be blamed on the protest (he was white, btw). Before I threw up, I turned it off.

    2. The "spin" has already started. I saw something on Slate too; one of their columnists had his manties in a wad over the Drudge headline: Black Lives Kill.

Jerk. Even an Alt-Right site that I read sometimes is blaming the police.

Stop the world and let me off. Who are these people?

    3. Yep, here we go. Once again from Breitbart (whose coverage has been stellar):

Update 4:22 a.m.: President Obama took a moment when he was attending a NATO summit in Poland to address the execution of five officers in Dallas at a Black Lives Matter protest. He said the officers in Dallas who were killed were “targeted” and added, “We are horrified over these events.” He also called the attacks “vicious” and “calculated” but took the opportunity to say that the issue of “these types of weapons” will be considered in the [near] future.

      Delete
    4. I'm surprised the SOB could find a "moment" to lead, if you can call this statement leading.

And what type of weapons is he referring to? Does he even have that information, or is he talking out of his ass again?

Everything seems weird on social media. It's quiet. Maybe people are watching and waiting to see if there really will be a race war. Or perhaps they're waiting for someone to provide even a smidgen of leadership.

I don't know. I haven't watched TV today; what are they reporting?

    3. Another thing I'm seeing in social media is BLM sympathizers going all out to try to explain to the ignorant masses just how intolerant we all are and why we're such racists and afraid to talk about it. Interestingly, nobody is engaging them (which to them, just proves their point about how racist and afraid we are to talk about race). My take is that people are just sick of being labeled.
