Did Someone Leave Their Call LIght On?

Welcome to the TCKT infirmary, where everyone has their own personal bed!

Some of us may need IV therapy...it's a good thing we're well stocked!

And how about a luxury hospital bed that we can all fit in? The cranky old farts will probably hog the bed, and of course the brilliant young ladies will steal the blankets!

And I think some therapy dogs would be really nice and cuddly...

And some therapy goats!

Er...on second thought, maybe not...we could play chess though, to pass the time.

I hope everyone gets well soon. It's been a tough year or so for our TCKT family, but faith and friendship will see us through.

  2. FYI: I didn't put any specific names on this post because I didn't want to infringe upon anyone's privacy.

  3. I am doing fine. My throat is still a little tender from having a tube down it (it feels like a mild case of heartburn). I think all went well. It feels as though the old ticker is much more stable than I recall it being for years. I have also been much more restful in bed at night. Whether that is because the heart is beating better or if I am still feeling some of the sleepy juice I don't know, but I am thrilled. Fay still wants me to take it easy and not over exert myself. Don't want to pop the insertion point in my groin.

    3. I finally had a cardiac ablation to (hopefully) take care of my Afib. After I was zapped the last time I think both the emergency room and my doctor sent the specialist nastygrams saying "Will you ablate this guy already?" I have been zapped ten times since March, 2013 (eleven if you count they had zap me again Friday). So far I think I am doing better. Ever if I weren't in Afib I think sometimes my pulse rate would rush for no real reason. I also would get out of breath for no real reason either. Hopefully that is all in check.

    5. I just looked it up, it sounds frightening. I'm glad you have Fay there to help you through it and do hope it fixes your fibrillations. God Speed.

    7. Oh my goodness Matt! I had no idea! If it makes you feel any better (probably not but you never know) my son had an ablation around 10-11 years ago, at the grand old age of 22. Just as he was about to start his IDF service, on the very day of induction, he had one last medical, where the doc found an irregular heartbeat. He was out of the Golani so fast his head was spinning. And he was (almost literally) heartbroken.

He was shoved into a desk job while the army thought about where to place him. And then he started going into fib, with his heart rate reaching 300 on occasion and then passing out.

He was in and out of the cardiac ward in Tel Hashomer, the youngest patient by far, and treated with drugs which turned him into an old man, until the doctor said "you know, we can fix this".

And they did the ablation (including the catheters into the neck and groin). Which was an undiluted success thank G-d tfu tfu tfu. The doc said they "zapped 8 triggers for sure, got another 5 they think, and possibly a couple of others". The doc said it was like fireworks inside his heart.

Until then I had never heard of such a heart condition or such a procedure. Thank G-d the IDF medic found the condition before he went into strenuous physical exertion in the army. And thank G-d for our medical care.

I wish you continued recovery and soon you'll be the "new improved Matt" as they say in the ads. :)

  5. I've been in the infirmary for most of the year :(

At the beginning because of the avulsion fracture of my right elbow. Then the right wrist fracture before the other fracture was healed. 2015 was a challenging year for sure.

2016 has also been challenging, my hand and wrist are nothing close to normal. My elbow is at almost 105 but doesn't seem to want to move from there. I'm wondering if my right hand/arm is hampered because I am so used to using my left at this point in time.

    1. Gosh, Fay, I figured you'd be all healed up by now. It's got to be discouraging especially since you are such a busy person.

Prayers going out to you, Matt and Aridog (and any others who are ill).

    2. Thanks florrie, sadly I'm still not 100%. Not even 85% yet. But, you know, we "grin" and bear it. I'm busier now than I have been since this time last year. Working two jobs and raking in the dough (hahahaha)!.

    3. Well, "raking in the dough" is good and a bit of a consolation. God Speed to you too, Fay.

    4. If there is all this dough around then where are the chocolate chip cookies?

    6. Fay, you're obviously not exercising your arm correctly!

    7. Seriously, I really feel for you. I didn't realize you had hurt your other hand too. What a rotten situation! I wish you a very speedy recovery.

  6. Matt - Hope you are feeling and doing better! I just broke my right foot in an accident and it's amazing how quickly one can go from "just fine, thanks" to "OHMYGODLIFESUCKS" when one isn't healthy.
