    1. It certainly is. He was a class act and hugely talented. There is a fabulous interview with him that I caught on You Tube once. Made me like him even more. He had his priorities right. I'll try and find the link. Great video florrie, thanks.

    2. Hereis the interview. It's from 2000. Bowie was prescient about the internet. I also loved his response about making enough money.

    3. It's difficult for me to envision a world without David Bowie in it. He was such a talented and unique man; I'll miss him so much.

  2. Beautiful choice florrie. I was stunned when heard the news.

I read somewhere earlier that Germans credit this song with helping bring the wall down.

Remember those days? When even rock stars knew who the bad guys were?

    Strange times we live in.

      Indeed.

    2. Weird - the best explainer for the Heroes / Berlin Wall tie is is in Vox, of all places.

They save the political spin for the last paragraph, but otherwise this is a good read: link.

    3. Stunned is a good description. He was so talented and seemed ageless

  3. Thanks for the link, Fay. That was interesting, I watched a few other Bowie clips one of the things I enjoyed is that he doesn't suffer fools kindly (although he was so lovely in how he handled that yetchy interviewer's misprounounceing his name over and over). And the rubber face on that guy, holding his head in his hand, rolling his eyes, egad.

  4. Alan Rickman died today. He was also 69, also battling cancer. He was a far, far left guy but I was enthralled with his voice and his superb acting. He gave a wonderful performance in Sense and Sensibility, my favorite movie hands down. He was also great in Die Hard, the Harry Potter movies, Michael Collins and particularly Truly, Madly Deeply. I will miss him, my condolences to his family.

    1. I too was a Rickman fan early on. I could never be a fan after he wrote and directed "My Name is Rachel Corrie” a clearly anti Israel diatribe.

But, dying from cancer is not a fate I would wish on anyone (well, maybe I could name a few).

Anyway, we seem to be on a roll of death to begin 2016. I heard that the guy who played Grizzly Adams died today.

    2. Ah yes, his paean to St. Pancake.

We're losing so many from our generation, Fay, it's all a bit depressing.
