Coming Soon...

Trip to Israel, how I fractured my elbow, the Israeli health care system, things you never knew about Annie (hint: she lives in Israel!)

The whole of Israel is kosher (who knew?)

Everything closes on Shabbat, even the elevators.

Wine is cheaper than water in Israel (seems fitting somehow, no?)

  4. Oy vey! What secrets are you going to tell about me?! :P

Seriously, I'm so sorry you had to go through all that trouble because of the hotel's carelessness. I hope you sue them. I'm so glad to hear your arm healed well afterwards.

I can't wait to read your take on your adventures. :) I've been following Matt's facebook postings and his pictures are fabulous.

We were in Kibuutz Lavi for the Shavuot festival just last weekend - a 2-day shindig of food food food. And prayers. But food... I hope you enjoyed the place as much as we do. It's our favourite holiday destination in Israel. In fact we were back again this last Thursday for a wedding! on the kibbutz itself, this time, rather than in the hotel, but it was also beautiful.

LOLing at the thought of loud sloshing indigestion afflicting all the davening devout.

Does that make me racist? ;)

[Srsly annie - glad to hear you had a good festival. I'd been following your "roots" visit to Germany - fascinating, and some heavy sh*t as we say here...]

    2. Lewy, LOL! Your description is pretty much accurate. :)) (Racist? You? Never!)

Glad you enjoyed my roots trip blogs. It didn't really feel "heavy" till the last day, and then we started absorbing all we had seen.

    1. Ugh. I'm sorry to hear that Fay. Trifle, Vicodin, Sherry. In that order. Have Matt do the dosage for the last two...

See what I mean? A way with words! I laughed out loud reading that.

Good lord, Fay, that's a long time to be hurting. I'm so sorry to hear that but glad that you have Matt to take good care of you. Gentle Hugs

  6. DEAR FAY - To my horror, looking at the comments now, I see my initial comment to you on this is gone. I'm sorry!

I was so sorry to hear this, it probably hurt more than the Canucks playoff exit (though not by much).

My recommendation: a nice couch, a nice scotch, the Stanley Cup Playoffs on CBC HD, and, yup, Vicodin.

When I got hurt real bad awhile back, that was my spot.

  7. I am happy to say that I think I am out of my post op funk. Seriously have never felt so depressed and emotional as I did the four weeks following surgery. I have never experienced anything like that before and hope I never have to again.

Monday this week was the first day I actually felt better than I had on any day following the surgery. Physio is tough, my elbow bend is at 70 degrees now (was at 55 when I started). My therapist told me that our goal right now is 90 and that will be hard. 90 is the top of the mountain, the goal is 120. From 90 to 120 is down the other side of the mountain.

Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and prayers.

    1. Fay, really great to hear you are doing better!

Ah yes, the dread goniometer! I know it well.

Best news for your prognosis is that you actually go to PT, and you care enough to want to improve and regain full range. It may take some time but you'll get there.

Pain and immobility can definitely mess with your head. That is for sure.

    2. Oh gosh, Fay, I had no idea your break was so bad. Thank goodness you're feeling more like yourself now, that depression sounds like it was awful to deal with - especially since you are such an upbeat person. Take good care, sending love & hugs...

  8. Thanks lewy, I had no idea that the measurement instrument was called a goniometer! The things you learn...

Physio today was the most painful to date but we got to 80, woo hoo.

  10. Fay, you've been on my mind so much. I hope you're okay...you've sustained such a painful injury, and I've been worried. Sending huge hugs your way. I wish I could hug you in person.
