  1. I did all that? Well, let me add ANOTHER of my all time favorites. A star burns bright in County Down...The Canticle of the Turning.

One more, from my profile: An t-Úll...be grateful for what we have because it may not last forever.

    1. And here's ANOTHER from the imitable Cathy Jordan, in duet, with the Dervish.

    2. And just ONE MORE ....the superb "Enya", a pop crossover from Irish to traditional. Those of us who like her voice fall in love forever.

    3. Enya is awesome. Between my wife and I we have literally all her albums I think.

If you're interested in her diametric opposite... you heard anything by The Dropkick Murphys?

    5. Just did a quick check of the "Dropkick Murphys"....uhm, they let their instruments overwhelm the voices....e.g., more noise than voice. I'll check out a few other of their pieces...but yep, so far they are the polar opposite of Enya, or Dervish, or most of the rest of the Irish individuals & groups, whether from Ireland or simply inspired by Gaelic music. A great deal of our American folk music was Scots-Irish inspired. Scot-Celtic music inspires marches, such as this one (Scotland the Brave) from a movie

    7. On a roll I guess, but here is an example of how a story can be told with voice and instruments, clearly and distinct, separate but together...yes, it's Cathy Jordan and Dervish once again :-)

    8. Ari, thanks for checking out the Dropkick Murphys - they're not music so much as an artifact of authentic Boston Irish gangster culture.

When I talk about the thugs who run Massachusetts on the ground level - this. Right here.

  2. Great selection Aridog! I was mesmerized by Carlos Montoya! How does he DO that? I've never seen anything like it. Ever.

Florrie, Boyle's cover of Wild Horses gave me goosebumps. Really nice rendition.

    1. Carlos Montoya...all five fingers that to pick individually and classical music training in his background. That's how he does it. I never miss a chance to listen to his artistry.
