Still dealing with the damned DST. No one I know likes it. No one. Why not join the other 2 states who have gotten rid of this ridiculous "time change"? Some say it would be too complicated; how could it be more complicated than having to adjust our clocks (internal AND external) twice a year? It's also very inefficient. OK, rant over.

But I thought of it as I have to get up at 7:30 tomorrow morning (6:30 really) and I go to bed between 3 & 4 am. But the reason is very worthwhile. I'm going to go pick up my semi-annual plant order at the Rhododendron Species Foundation and then go get a Belleek lamp I'm buying from someone. I really look forward to picking up the plants as I get a chance to pick the brains of the nursery manager/propagator. My garden is pretty full so I'm only getting 5 plants tomorrow but it's always like Christmas for me.

Thanks for the open thread, lewy.

    1. Hah your bedtime is about like mine flo.

We both suffer from jetlag when we have to be cross town by breakfast time. (Though when I have to be up as early as 7:30 I'm tempted just to drink moar coffee and stay up...)

    2. Same here. I always make appointments for "after 10".

Do you like being a night owl or would you rather be an early riser?

    3. Lucky for me I'm at the "age and station of life" where I can, mostly, set my own schedule. I tell colleagues that I can meet them for lunch "at the crack of noon" and for the most part, I get away with it.

That said, it's embarrassing to beg out of early morning meetings or suggest a later time; sometimes a breakfast meeting is all that works for others. I can make these but the reality is that it will screw me up for a day or two.

It would be easier to be "normal". People who program tend to be up late; when I was younger I could burn the candle at both ends. Don't work so good now.

    4. I'm a morning person. I'm up at 3:30 or 4:00. That's AM. I make all my appointments as early as I can, and by 3 or 4 in the afternoon I'm dragging and ready to put my feet up and chill.

DST always seemed silly to me. I grew up, and have spent many adult years, in Arizona, where they don't cotton to such nonsense. Here in Arkansas I'm fiddling with clocks (both physical and biorhythm) twice a year, and grumbling. It seems like the older I get, the longer it takes to adjust.

Thanks for the open thread lewy! :)

    5. DST is basically PTSD meets STD...

    6. STD? Um...sexually transmitted disease? DST is bad, but not THAT bad! :))

    7. lady red, you're getting up when I'm going to bed :-) I miss the advantages of getting an early start (like this morning) but, like lewy, it definitely takes me a couple days to get back to "normal".

  2. Here it is. It has 3 Sweet Baby James' around the base. She says it has a shade but I haven't seen it, I'm hoping it's neutral color-wise.

    2. TY, lady red. It's a little different but I collect Belleek and she's selling it to me for about one third of what it's work (and it's still in the original box, her grandma was also a collector but never displayed her Belleek). Well, I'm out the door...

  3. Sheesh, what a night, even my banana quit dancing. It was so windy here I thought for sure a tree would come down.

    1. That scaffolding video is crazy! Now we just need to photoshop florrie's stationary banana standing on top of it. :)) The woman screaming at around the 30 second mark cracked me up.
