For Lovely Florrie!

And my nephews Tom and James who also live in Washington and are football fanatics.

Go Seahawks!

  1. I raced at top speed today to get all my work done before the playoff games started! I'm enjoying watching the Ravens beat up on the Pats (so far). I made pot roast soup earlier and it's simmering in the crock pot, and I have crusty buns to go with the soup. Life is good! :)

  2. Woohoo! Thanks so much, lady red. I've had an upset stomach since yesterday in anticipation. We had our annual playoff food, sliders and spicy chicken wings :-)

My next favorite quarterback after Russell is Tom Brady (and Philip Rivers but they are out) so we are rooting for different teams in the AFC division but mainly I just want a good game.

My Super Bowl prediction is: Seahawks 19 Patriots 10

  4. Sliders and wings sound yummy!!! Great football food!

I'll be cheering for your Seahawks tonight florrie, and for my Packers tomorrow!

My Superbowl prediction: The Pack 28, Ravens 14

You know that the NFC championship (Hawks vs Pack) will be fireworks around the kitchen! I'll bring the cheese, you bring the wings! :)

  5. I think the Packers will run over the Ravens too.

Sounds like a plan if our 2 teams meet, there's a good chance of that!

Tom Brady, what's not to love!?!

  6. Geez, what a game this is! Both teams are playing well. The fourth quarter will be a barn-burner. Go Ravens!

  7. That was a fantastic game, even though the Ravens lost. I guess it will be Green Bay and Denver in the Superbowl. :p

    2. Thanks, Dances, it was an incredible come-from-behind win. Now on to beating the Patriots and their deflated balls ;-)

  10. Happy the Patriots won, though I wasn't much engaged in the game.

Monday is Ducks vs Buckeyes. Viewing is mandatory for all Oregonians.

I'm not really kidding. The entire state is basically shutting down for the game; lots of businesses closing early. I had a couple meetings for Monday canceled or moved.

I'm going to have the game on in the background just so I can carry on a casual conversation with colleagues in the next couple weeks.

Still two months 'till the first 2015 F1 race.

  11. I can see why, lewy. The Ducks have had a great season, that last game was awesome! They have a chance to enter the record books as the first national college champions.

  12. I'm delighted your Seahawks won florrie, even though I fell asleep in my recliner halfway through the game. :)

Yes lewy, Monday is Ducks time! Quack quack! As a native Oregonian I'll be cheering for them. Loudly! I wish they were playing an SEC team, but THE Ohio State University will have to do in a pinch. I predict Oregon will mop the floor with them. :)

    1. Heh heh...that's what Alabama fans thought about Ohio too. Whoops.

  13. Monday's Ohio State Buckeyes vs Oregon's Ducks is one I will watch in its entirety...only the 3rd full game watched this season, both pro & college. Both have weird mascot names, one a stinky flower and the other a noisy fowl...quack quack. Never-the-less, painful as it is for me, being from Michigan and a former U of Wisconsin student, I will be cheering for the Buckeyes, stinky or not. I'll watch the entire game unless a huge blowout for either side. Hey, I'm improving ...last year I watched only one game full length. It has become boring for me, and with some of the officiating, many really stink even without the flowers. I consider Ohio's victory over Alabama more a victory over blind (or ignorant) referees. Let's hope the "A-Team" refs do the Ohio vs Oregon game...and let the best team win it without officials fumbling calls.

    1. I'll be watching with you Ari. I have to root for Oregon or I end up in the pillory they have set up downtown for the traitors.

    2. Reamed.

Oregon will be in a fabulous mood tomorrow.

    3. Good game..enjoyed every minute of it. Both teams had their drill, had their missing players, and the quick set stunts did not make it against the Ohio State's 12th man...Urban Meyer. Has a young team and has built it the way he always has done. He's one of the main reasons I could root for the Buckeyes...anethema that they are otherwise here abouts.

    4. Not reamed, Lewy...just out played. Oregon tried to hard to make the quick sets work...against Urban Meyer's coaching and staff, that was folly. Never-the-less Oregon tried hard. Ohio has long gone from the days of 3 yards and a cloud of dust. It shows. I'm biased from my 50's days in high school ball...I like it when a quarter back is a running back threat. I don't even feel bad that they beat the Badgers for the Big 10 title...they earned it.

    5. Oregon should not be in a poor mood today...their team played a good game, just the wrong one against the other guy's 12th man :-) The score isn't the real measure. Oregon never quit, and if I feel sympathy for anyone it would be those players who tried hard and came up short. Urban Meyer's teams are notorious for wearing down the opposition, he utilizes almost his entire bench to assure fresh bodies on the line....and assures fresh bodies to replace those injured and on the side lines. I fully understand why he took the Ohio job, other than he is really from Ohio, it was a challenge he could not resist...a chance to take a grunt & groan black & blue football league in to the 21st century...still with gorillas, but fast gorillas.

Trust me, me sponsoring THE Ohio State is a step almost too far...but not with Urban Meyer at the helm. He will change Big Ten football as surely as the sun rises in the east.

    6. Thank you for all your commentary, Ari - stealing it - now I can at least sound like I know something about football today! ;)

    1. AW, come on...it was a very good game and neither side quit in the pinch. Scores only tell part of the story. I watch little football, or any other sport today, but I am very happy I decided to watch this game. Both teams impressed me. Given I am a troglodyte from the Woody Hayes and Milt Bruhn era, that's saying something...I think anyway. I notice scores less than I do the tactics and the spirit of the teams, which is the whole idea IMO.

  15. And with this game I am all done with pro & college sports for the year. Amazes me, actually, that I watched a total of three whole football games this year ...usually it is one or less...e.g., half a game. However I am glad I watched tonight. Otherwise, I'm back the Nat Geo channels for most of my TV entertainment.
