U.S. Returns to Active Combat in Iraq

As is usual with this President, he is doing "something" to please hawks and to at least give the appearance that we care about the massacre of Iraqi Christians, but not enough to actually affect anything.

In an not-unrelated note, the BBC's weekly on-line newsmagazine passes along a finding from the well-known Pew Center:
Only 19% of Americans trust the U.S. Government, a figure below those recorded during the darkest days of Watergate.  A record low of 14% record satisfaction with the nation and where it is headed.
For those of us who lived through the Watergate years, this is astounding news. To be clear: intellectually, I know that USG is not only disliked but actively hated by many Americans, but, emotionally, this really brings what is just a data point home right to the heart.  Our government has lost the consent of the governed.

  1. Well, I'm certainly one of those with no faith in out government doing the right thing.

But 0bama has actually done nothing for or about Christians in Iraq. He allowed them to be foully murdered without a peep of outrage.

It was not until the Yazidi tribesmen, who worship something they call "The Peacock Angel" were threatened did he bother to even make a token military move.
