A flash mob with a difference

Here's a beautiful video of a very unusual flash mob. I guarantee it will bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.

Enjoy!

  1. Why does the video come out so small in this post? I used the "upload video" tool and chose YouTube. Is there a way to enlarge it a bit? Otherwise watch it directly on YouTube to get the best impact. It really is great!

  2. How's that, Annie?

However, I recommend watching it full screen (click on the lower right corner of the embed). The resolution is great and it looked really good on my large Mac screen.

  3. Oh how lovely. I especially enjoyed seeing the wonder and joy in the faces of the children. Music truly does speak an international language. Thank you annie.

  4. From the sublime to the ridiculous - but the gentlemen of the Table will appreciate this video methinks. ;)

Actually, there's plenty for the ladies to slaver over too. :D

  6. I keep watching this over and over. I love the way the children are "conducting" the music - even the little monkey at the top of the lamp-post!

  7. Here are the English words to Ode to Joy:

    Joyful, joyful
    We adore Thee
    God of glory
    Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee
Hail Thee to the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
    Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us with the light of day

    With light
    With light

    Mortals join the mighty chorus
    Which the morning stars began
Father love is reigning o'er us
Brother love binds man to man
    Ever singing march we onward
Victors in the midst of strife
    Joyful music lifts us onward
In the triumph song of life

(Via the author Naomi Ragen, from whose email list I also received the video. Not her usual political stuff but this makes such a refreshing change).

  8. I'm so maudlin, beautiful and good things like this always make me teary. In a good way :-) I'm so glad you posted it annie, I'm going to forward it to my little sister, she will love it too.

  9. Brilliant. Just brilliant. I unapologetically defend Western, Judaeo-Christian-secular post-Enlightenment civilization as the zenith of humanity's capabilities.

/iTunes has an all-Beethoven "Classical" channel, which we often play. On good speakers, and being 128 K, it is a real audio pleasure.
