Destination: Austria

Comrades!

I apologize for the long radio silence. For the past weeks I've been moving across the country and then going through intense training for my new job.

Yesterday, I received my assignment and, to my utter astonishment, I have been assigned to a position in Austria.

That I will now get to realize my long-held dream of living and working in Europe for an extended period of time has produced a surreal feeling, like I've somehow hit the lottery.

The hills are alive with the sound of Jourdan!

  1. Wow Jourdan! Super-Duper-Congrats!
This must sound to you like an offer to go on a vacation where you get paid! :OD

I can't fathom leaving the country and moving permanently out - not on account of being glued here, but because leaving all familiar things and people behind seems like such a jarring thing to do. Even leaving the state where the most time was spent sounds like it would bring on culture shock. Can't imagine a permanent move to Austria! :O&
Gorgeous country to endure culture shock though, huh? :OD My mother adored Austria.

I watched Master & Commander while you were driving cross-country...it was definitely one I'd watch again.

Austria, wow, that's the next best thing to France, eh?

  10. I was wondering why Jourdan was so excited about getting sent to Australia when he'd wanted to be in Europe. And it took three read-throughs before I figured it out. *grimaces and smacks forehead*

Congratulations, Jourdan! I wish you and your family a painless transition, seamless adjustment (especially for the kids) and no end to the honeymoon!
