Food For The Kitchen Table

The Barefoot Contessa (Ina Garten) has the best recipe for Chicken Pot Pie. Not to be indiscreet, but Matt gets a happy smile every time I make it...

However, I do not make my own pastry. I use frozen puff pastry which works wonderfully well. If you choose to do as I do, then you will need to cook the pies at 400 not 375 as stated in the recipe.

Bon Appetit!

  1. I used to make my own pot pies, using Pillsbury rolls for crust, and was happy with them.

But those look painfully appetizing, despite the fact that I've just finished heapin' helpin' of my chicken, rice, leek & carrot soup.

  2. They are yummy Sidd. Sometimes I substitute sauteed mushrooms for the carrots.

  3. Oh, and I love Ina Garten (not as much as Julia). I love that she calls her show the Barefoot Contessa it's passionate and elegant at the same time.

Plus she looks like she eats everything she makes (just like Julia did). I friggin hate skinny cooks!

  5. Chicken Pot Pie => dessert, with dinner baked into it.

[Not sayin' it's a bad thing!]

Must hurry, only a few more months of comfort food season left?

  6. I also have an excellent pot pie recipe I make, it calls for phyllo. Plus is only makes 4 portions so is just right for us.

I hope you'll share a good muffin or scone recipe somewhere down the road, Fay.

Sorry florrie, I don't make either one of those things. But I have a killer dumpling recipe that I make with Guinness stew. Maybe I'll make that my next "Dinner For The Kitchen Table" post.
